TEENAGER IDAFAR CONTINUES TOP FORM AT SNETTERTON
Officially timed mid-season Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship testing came to a conclusion at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk this afternoon, Thursday, 25th June, with Menasheh Idafar once again producing great form.
Formula Renault UK racer Menasheh Idafar produced his most competitive performance of the year at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk this afternoon, Wednesday, 24th June, by ending the opening day of official championship testing with the second fastest time overall.
IDAFAR SECOND FASTEST ON OPENING DAY OF SNETTERTON TEST
Hillspeed’s Menasheh Idafar is looking forward to the 11th and 12th rounds of the Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit over the weekend after enjoying a positive build-up during official testing at the track this afternoon, Friday, 3rd July.
Posting a best lap of 1m48.265 seconds (170.9km/h) during the 50 minute session, Menasheh and his team tried some set-up variations and ended the run on the 3.2-mile circuit just six 10ths of a second shy of the top 10. The test was actually interrupted by three stoppages though, limiting the amount of genuine track time for the competitors.
Off the back of a pleasing two-day test outing at Snetterton in Norfolk just over a week ago, the Gulf Computer Services and Ortolan supported driver is hoping for a good weekend at Silverstone with the race meeting – featuring the World Series by Renault and demonstrations from the ING Renault Formula One Team – expected to attract well over 100,000 spectators.
Commenting on today’s practice run, Hillspeed team principal Richard Ollerenshaw said: “We’re quite happy with the way things went for us today. Menasheh did a good job and even though the test was compromised by three separate red flag incidents, we managed to get enough work done to feel it was a worthwhile session nonetheless.”
Qualifying for rounds 11 and 12 of the 2009 Michelin Formula Renault UK Championship will take place at 17.50 tomorrow, Saturday, 4th July, with both races following on Sunday, 5th July, at 09.00 and 16.50.
